To get started, you will need an old dresser or shelf (this will become the base of the bar), a bamboo screen, 4 – 4ft 1×2 strips, cordless drill and screws, grass skirts, wire cutter, galvenized wire, and a couple of hawaiian leis.

If you would like to build a relatively simple tiki bar at home, these plans by Atomic Magazine could be just what you are looking for. Built primarily out of bamboo, this tiki bar is perfect for entertaining and is small enough to fit in your apartment or poolside.

This step-by-step guide is entertaining and quite easy to follow. If you can get your hands on the various sizes of bamboo required, your new tiki bar can be fully operational by this weekend – serving up Mai Tais and Zombies to guests clad in evening beachwear.

Building this particular tiki bar requires almost exclusively bamboo. Wood glue, 4d nails, and Jute or Sisal hemp complete your shopping list. You’ll need a hand saw, level, hammer, and vise grip.
