Here is a pretty impressive tiki mug collection from JenTiki, featuring about 100 tiki mugs. It could take a collector years to accumulate a collection this huge – and would require some pretty hefty shelving behind the home tiki bar!

Even though collecting tiki mugs can be a relatively inexpensive hobby, tiki mugs do require storage space. Before your collection gets too large, consider how you would like to display your tiki mugs. Whether in a cabinet, over your bar, or just a couple of special ones on the mantel, your display preference will likely dictate how large a collection you will have. Of course, you always have the option of storing your mugs in a cabinet and displaying them to your fellow collectors on YouTube!

Tiki Farm is now offering the Rigor Marty and the Dirt Nappers set of tiki mugs. The collection features head man “Rigor Morty” and his band mates “Rob DeGraves”, “Shrunken Ed” and “Marcus Carcass”. The production run was limited to 1,000 sets, so this also makes a cool choice for collectors.

If you are looking for the right set of tiki mugs for your next round of Zombies, these are a ghoulish choice.

Now available for pre-order on Amazon, Tiki Mugs: A Guide to Collecting looks like the perfect book for collectors of tiki mugs. The 176-page hardcover book by tiki enthusiast Jay Strongman looks like a promising choice for tiki mug collectors. It contains production listings of major manufacturers from 1950 to present.

Part of the fun of collecting tiki bar mugs can be reliving a great memory every time you break out your favorite mug. Many of the coolest tiki mugs available to collectors today are from classic tiki bars. Believe it or not, there are still tiki bars today that offer keeper tiki mugs. This thread from Tiki Central highlights many of the tiki bars across the country who offer to let you keep your mug (sometimes for a fee). I’ve added a couple of these locations to my list of bars I will be visiting in the next few months and hope to get some pictures up here of any cool ones I find.

Tiki mugs are available in many original styles and colors. While some collectors mugs date back to the days of the original tiki bars, others are created today using recent and modern icons. Much like bobbleheads or pez dispensers, these tiki mugs are limited in production and values are tied to both the featured design and the availability of the mug.

One of the tiki mugs available in our shop this week is an Elvis tiki mug. This mug is a great tiki-style caricature of the King and would add some good Elvis attitude to someone’s home tiki bar.
